Facials are one of the best luxuries in life worth splurging on. If you have had one, you understand, however if you have not, you’re going to want to be initiated into the club. Facials are a great way to keep your skin in formation by cleaning clogged pores and smoothing up rough skin. If you’ve never had a facial before there are a few things you should know before coming to your first appointment.

When you arrive for your first facial, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire about your skin. Make sure you’re as honest as possible when you answer the questions to ensure your experience is tailored to suit your individual needs. If you are using any topical or oral medications for your skin, make sure to let your aesthetician know. It’s also important to let your aesthetician know if you’re pregnant or have any illnesses, as certain peels and chemical treatments should not be used in those instances. Most importantly, let your aesthetician know what your main concerns are for your skin, what are you wanting to treat? Acne? Dryness? Redness? Fine lines and wrinkles?

We offer multiple types of facials at Stones River Dermatology. A few offered are the Express Facial, Custom Facial for maximum results in minimum time and the Dermaplan Pro-Facial, which is great for reduction of unwanted facial hair and exfoliation of dead skin. We also offer add-on’s like extractions, medical grade peels, waxing and more!

Some tips for your first visit:

  • Ask lots of questions!
  • Ask your aesthetician to explain the steps they’re taking along the way.
  • Go make-up free or light make-up. This will make things easier for your aesthetician when cleansing your skin and allow more time and focus on the treatment.
  • Post facial, avoid using harsh treatments and direct sunlight immediately after.
  • We recommend monthly facials and keeping up with a good at home regimen that your aesthetician can suggest depending on your skin’s specific needs.

Whether you’re looking to pamper yourself or start a regimen with the guidance of our licensed aesthetician we can cater to your specific needs. For more information contact Stones River Dermatology at 615-216-6559 and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
